Since I was a child I have absolutely loved to read. Some of my best memories from my youth were visiting the local bookstore with my mom after my dreaded weekly piano lesson, picking up a new book, going home, snuggling in bed with a bunch of pillows and blankets and not coming out until it was finished. Yeah, I was THAT kid but man, was it awesome and I honestly think it is one of the key reasons I love capturing love stories through my camera.
However, when I went to college, pleasure reading went out the door and on came textbook reading (which I never really enjoyed). Between studying, going to school full time and working full time I no longer had the time or luxury to read—unless you count “Introduction into Abnormal Psychology” (which I wouldn’t). So for the past 10 years I have mainly got my “fix” through listening to audio books on my iPhone during my daily 1.5 hour commute. Not to say I haven’t bought or been given books to read, just that I haven’t had time to crack them open.
Last week however, I finally had the opportunity to read “The Longest Ride”. I have long been one of “those people” who love to read a book before watching the movie. And yes, they are just about always better in print than on the big screen but it doesn’t stop me from wanting to see them. With it coming to DVD within the next few weeks I decided it was now or never so I grabbed the iPad and downloaded it. After getting over the initial physical aspect of not having an actual book (welcome to the digital e-reading world, Amber) I once again became consumed with finishing the book and couldn’t stop until it was done (which by the way, excellent job as usual Mr. Sparks).
So now I am looking for a new book. Anyone got a good read that they would like to share? If so, please feel free to mention it in the comments.
